The Trannack Secret Art Project

This sale took place in October 2009, as the result of a community art project, organised and led by the PFTC. Children, staff, parents and members of the community were given the opportunity to produce an original (and secret!) piece of artwork on an 8"x8" canvas. Over forty professional artists also joined in and the canvases were then auctioned anonymously.

The project was supported from the outset by many of our generous local businesses. Several of the professional artists also came in to school to hold creative workshops with the children.

'Big Dave' built a fantastic website specifically for the project...

The children were taking part not only as artists - they were also given the chance to become exhibition curators, sale room porters and cashiers.

David Lay (of Lays Fine Art Valuers & Auctioneers in Penzance) very kindly volunteered to conduct the sale and Trevarno Estate hosted this event - providing us with a really magical venue for both the exhibition and the Secret Art Sale.

The Trannack Secret Art Project made an unprecedented amount of money for the school (£5,000!)

and gave the children an art lesson that they will never forget!
